WAKOSKI, Diane; BUKOWSKI, Charles.

The Last Poem [and] Tough Company.

FIRST EDITION, the wrappers issue — one of 740 copies in printed wrappers, distributed to the friends of the Black Sparrow Press as its New Year's Greeting for January 1976. (Of the edition, 176 copies were handbound in boards, numbered and signed by both authors; this is the ordinary wrappers issue.) Santa Barbara: Black Sparrow Press, 1976.

[12] pp. Sewn in cream printed wrappers, the tree-and-birds design in brown framed in blue and red rules, blue endpapers. Krumhansl 53a.

Inscribed by Diane Wakoski on the front free endpaper: "For Naftali — best wishes, Diane." Pairs Diane Wakoski's "The Last Poem" with Charles Bukowski's "Tough Company," a single poem by each. Two of John Martin's signature authors — Wakoski, the press's leading woman poet of the period, and Bukowski, its commercial cornerstone.
