Copies signed by both Pekar and Crumb are uncommon — Pekar died in 2010, and Crumb has lived in France since the early 1990s. 4to. 86 pp. Black-and-white comics throughout, with color to the inside covers. Stiff color-illustrated pictorial wrappers. A fine copy.

A collection bringing together the Pekar/Crumb collaborations — the stories that put American Splendor on the map. Harvey Pekar (1939–2010), the Cleveland VA-hospital file clerk who from the mid-1970s turned the ordinary texture of his working life into autobiographical comics, wrote and storyboarded the pieces; his friend Robert Crumb — the dominant figure of the 1960s American underground comix movement and founder of Zap Comix — drew them. The American Splendor series was later adapted into the acclaimed 2003 film starring Paul Giamatti as Pekar.
