Publisher's tan paper-covered boards lettered in black — the scarcer of the two binding states — in the uncommon publisher's dust jacket, the original $1.25 price intact and the jacket unrestored. A very good copy, with some darkening and wear to the extremities (more so at the spine ends), internally clean; in a near fine dust jacket with minor wear to the extremities and slight darkening to the spine.

The Innocents is a comic novel about an elderly couple who set off across America in defiance of their adult daughter's plans for them. Lewis's pre-1920 books are scarce in any condition, and in their original publisher's dust jackets they are uncommon enough that Lewis collectors pursue them across decades. The present jacket is unrestored, with the original price intact, on a copy in the scarcer paper-boards binding.
