The smaller octavo format of Rackham's Peter Pan, carrying twenty-four of his color plates, as against the fifty in the celebrated 1906 quarto. All correct issue points: the title page reads "Hodder and Stoughton, Publishers" without "Limited" (the firm became Limited about 1920), and the title verso reads "From The Little White Bird."
Octavo. 125, [1] pp. Twenty-four mounted color plates by Rackham with captioned tissue guards. Printed by T. and A. Constable, Printers to His Majesty at the Edinburgh University Press. Original dark green cloth, the front board gilt-embossed with baby Peter Pan playing pan-pipes on a mushroom; gilt lettering on the spine; map of Kensington Gardens on olive endpapers. In the publisher's color illustrated dust jacket with gilt lettering, housed in the uncommon publisher's cardboard box with color plate on the front. A contemporary ownership inscription, "Lise Le Cœur," on the half-title. Book fine; dust jacket very good with age toning and general wear, with cream paper neatly affixed to the verso as reinforcement; box very good, with tape reinforcement along the inside edges of the upper cover and light general wear.
