Told in verse, it follows Budgee — a small rabbit in overalls — out into the "wide wide world" against his mother's warnings, through encounters with cowboys, longhorns, foxes, bears, and bighorns, and finally on a musk-ox's back to the North Pole and Santa's workshop, who sends him home on Christmas Eve.
