In a pictorial dust jacket, presented in an archival sleeve; boards clean beneath the jacket, the inscription bright and fully legible.
Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper in blue ink, signed with her married name and place-dated at her Los Gatos home: "With a Gluck Auf! and every good wish for a happy and successful trip and a quick return to your friends. Call of the House is set in California political life and centers on Dean Yale, a young woman recruited to run for the state senate by her uncle, a county boss. She wins — then discovers he assumes she will be "kept in line," and the novel turns on her decision to break with him.
